Message from the Management

Dear colleagues,

our Annual Workshop from 7-9 December in Bonn was again a success. With more than 120 contributions from all research areas, there was something of interest for every one of the more than 300 participants.
We like to thank again our hosts in Bonn for their hospitality and the perfect organisation. We provide a summary of the workshop for this issue of the newsletter.

The Alliance is close to its final year and we are planning for the extension beyond 2012. At this time it is clear that some of the Alliance activities will continue in the years 2013 and 2014. What is not so clear yet, what the level of funding will be. We will definitely continue the successful workshop and school program, including financial support for the organization and for travel costs. The level of funding for our research infrastructures and networks, especially in terms of man power, is currently not clear. We will keep you up to date.
