Dear MCgroupies

Here are the minutes of the MC group meeting on 20. Jan 2009:

* Announcements:
 - it was decided to move the MC group meetings to Tuesday 10:30-12:00 (every second week)
 - A. Buckley/J. Monk (RIVET) were visiting MC group for discussions on RIVET and HZTOOL
 - Announcements for Parton-Shower week were send out, already very positive response.
 - HZTOOL discussion:
   It was decided to leave HZTOOL as a HERA tool as is. New will be an interface to read in HEPMC record (convert it to HEPEVT) and a new histo package which will be compatible with RIVET. HERA analysis can be implemented in HZTOOL or in RIVET. For tuning with HERA, HZTOOL is recommended, since it contains most HERA analysis.
Rivet1.1.1 is now sucessfully installed on the GENSER mirror at DESY, thanks to S. Levonian.
 - Announcement and discussion on QCD encyclopedia:
   We will need professional support. A short proposal will be worked out, to get support for someone to work out a real and realistic project plan.

- RIVET discussion (Judith Katzy)
  - Report from the discussion session on Monday with A.Buckley and J. Monk.
  - Discussion on MC tuning: which parameters should/can be tuned, etc.

Please note, that the transparencies of the discussion session with A.Buckley are available from the MCgroup page. Also there are available example routines for starting a RIVET analysis (from a presentation of J.Monk on 21. Jan.)
