Analysis Centre: Statistics Tools Group
The general goals of the Statistics Tools group are
to provide tools, support & education for people doing physics analysis at ATLAS or CMS.
The following topics are covered, following the logical flow of a data analysis:
1. Optimal Signal/Background separation (e.g. using multivariate analysis techniques)
2. Signal Determination with maximum likelihood Fits, in case of no significant signal determination of Limits
3. Data Corrections (Unfolding etc.)
4. Systematic errors & and further practical tasks/problems

| Recent and forthcoming meetings |
The Statistics Tools groups holds regular informal meetings to discuss problems that arise during normal data analyses. The meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of each month at 10 o'clock in the morning and take place at DESY Hamburg - the next dates are December 18, January 15, and February 19 . Documentation for the questions discussed is also available and might be a useful source of information - check it out!!!! The Terascale Statistics Tools School was held from September 29 to October 2, 2008, at DESY/Hamburg (indico agenda). See here for a report on the school (plus picture!).
